English Willow is the gold standard for serious cricket. Grown exclusively in England — primarily in Essex, Suffolk and the Salix Alba willow groves of East Anglia — English Willow produces a lighter, more fibrous blade than Kashmir alternatives, giving you a superior pick-up, more responsive edges, and the natural performance expected by club and league cricketers across Hertfordshire and the UK.

At VG Sports Watford, every English Willow adult bat is hand-selected by Mr Hemant directly from trusted suppliers. We do not stock volume-grade bats. Each bat is inspected for straight grain alignment, moisture content, and pressing quality before it reaches our store at 213 Gammons Lane.

Understanding the Grades

• Grade 1 — The finest English Willow available. Straight, tight grains (6 or more across the face), minimal blemishes, and a bright, clear face. Suited to serious club cricketers and league players who demand elite performance from the first session. These bats often need minimal knocking-in and respond immediately.
• Grade 2 — Excellent performance willow with slight natural colouring or minor grain variation that does not affect play. The choice of most experienced club players across Hertfordshire and surrounding counties — outstanding value without compromising on feel.
• Grade 3 — High-quality playing willow with some natural marks, butterfly staining, or wider grain spacing. Excellent for club cricket, mid-week league play, and players stepping up from Kashmir Willow for the first time. Robust, reliable, and significantly better than Kashmir Willow at a comparable price point.
• Club Grade — Durable, practice-ready English Willow bats built for net sessions, coaching, and high-volume use. The preferred choice for cricket clubs across Watford, St Albans, Hemel Hempstead, and Hertfordshire who need reliable bats for shared squad use.

Profile and Sweetspot

Choose your profile based on your playing style. Balanced profiles suit all-round batters. Full profiles deliver maximum power through the drive and pull. Duckbill profiles are preferred by players who favour a lower grip and bottom-hand dominant technique. Sweetspot placement — High, Mid or Low — should reflect where you most consistently make contact.
